In November 2016, I was in Switzerland on tour with Yvonne Troxler, the founder and pianist of Glass Farm Ensemble. She entered my room on November 9th, muttered "Trump is president," and fled to a practice space. I woke up an hour later in a fog, not quite believing what was happening, and checked my social media feed. Indeed, this trumped up businessman who funded his own campaign was now the face of our country (I am not even saying 'great' at this point). On this first day of his presidency, I wonder what will be in store for us. Will visas and green cards be revoked? Will Planned Parenthood take two steps back? Will gay marriage be reversed? Will our health insurance system still function? Will the NEA be defunded? This man and his cabinet are deeply dangerous, from ignorance of climate change to the erection of stronger borders under the guise of 'self-preservation' and barely-disguised fascism.
